Popping the question this Valentine's Day? Some suggestions in the Triangle

Posted February 11, 2014

— Valentine's Day is a popular time to propose to that special someone, so we decided to come up with a list of places here in the Triangle that would be great to pop the question.

WRAL morning anchor Bill Leslie had some great suggestions for us.

"The Dairy Queen in Cary since that is where my wife proposed to me many years ago," Leslie said.

Otherwise, he suggests doing it during a hike at the Umstead Park or at the restaurants 18 Seaboard, The Angus Barn, Herons or Second Empire.

"My overall favorite would be along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Alleghany County watching the sunrise," he said.

Morning reporter and UNC alum Tara Lynn suggested the Old Well at UNC. It's where she got engaged and an iconic symbol for any Tar Heel.

"For Raleigh lovers, Boylan Street Bridge! You can have the backdrop of the skyline, and it would be easy to sneak a friend to stand by at the Boylan Street Brewpub to snap photos of the special moment," she said.

Another suggestion we got was renting out a local art gallery or arranging to use it after it is closed and proposing there. Or what about a proposal on the ice at a local rink?

There are so many places out there, where do you suggest people get engaged? And where did you pop the question?
