Poll: Are you shopping in-store Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving?

Published: 2012-11-19 14:49:19
Updated: 2012-11-19 14:49:19

I need your help with my Wednesday noon news Black Friday segment! Will you be shopping the in-store early Black Friday sales starting at 8:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day? As you probably know, many stores have moved their Black Friday sales to Thanksgiving Day, starting as early as 8:00 pm.

Please leave a YES or NO answer as to whether you are shopping in the stores on the evening of Thanksgiving Day (not on-line, only in the actual stores).  If your answer is YES, feel free to let us know which store you are heading to first.

Thanks for your help!

I am not going to be out early but I do plan on shopping a little on Friday morning.

yes

no....online only

Yes! My mother-in-law and I do it every year! We will plan out our "attack" on Thanksgiving day with all of our newspaper ads. We don't get too crazy over it though We just like to enjoy some time together and the holiday spirit.

no

no

No

Nope...I'll probably hit Kohl's though on Friday morning...maybe another store...but Thanksgiving is for family.

I will only do my shopping online!!!!:)

No I have to work I feel like I'm goin to miss some good deals just because I have to work :( but what can you do... Ill see If I can get a deal online maybe on "cyber Monday" I've never tried that before so we shall see...

No

No, I don't brave the stories on BF. I will be looking for online deals tho.

my wife will be shopping.

Don't even get me started...

I understand that hospitals, etc need to be open 24/7, but RETAIL? It's 'crossing the line' if you ask me...not trying to be a scrooge but Thanksgiving should be family time...

We have a nurse and a hotel employee in the family, and it's hard enough to get everyone together on the holidays as it is...

What's next, stores opening Christmas night so that you can return the gifts you don't like?

no way, im crazy but not that crazy....plus those people need to be home with their families too

Yes, Walmart then Target.

no

NO!

NO!

No. Thanksgiving is for family.

No. I think it's terrible that they have stores open on Thanksgiving Day. It is a day to be spent with family and friends.not at work. I feel sorry for those poor employees. If people would STAY AWAY the stores would stop opening earlier and earlier. Friday morning at 6am is early enough.

No. I think it's terrible that they have stores open on Thanksgiving Day, a time that should be spent with family...not at work. I feel sorry for those poor employees.

Yes, I will be heading to Walmart first and then to Target and then to stand in line at Belks for the Free Gift Card!!!!

NO I do not have the patience.

Yes. I have to go to RTP to have dinner with my husband; so when I leave there, I will go to Walmart, then Target and then head to Crabtree to Best Buy and Belk.

No shopping on Thanksgiving Day. This time should be spent with family.

No. I don't like that they moved it up...

yes, best buy

We might stop at a CVS/RA/Wags on Thursday en route to our destination, but will definitely NOT be out shopping on Thursday evening!

No. My boyfriend has to be at the Target Mobile Kiosk at 8pm on Thursday, which tears him away from his family. Not fair.

No.

No

I did last year, but not this year. We will be out of town and on the road.

Yes ma'am! I think we will be going to Target first. Last year, I was in and out of Target in 25 minutes. The line wrapped around the building (I was toward the back) and the checkout line was to the back of the store. The employees were helpful and had a lot of hustle! I'm hoping this year's experience is similar.

ABSOLUTELY NO!! Let these store personnel spend time with their families!

Absolutely NO....reailers are becoming rediculous and only care about money....not caring that employess have at least some time off for Thanksgiving to be with family

A Big NO! I will be at home with family on Thanksgiving Day. There is nothing I need that badly!

No. Like others have said, Thanksgiving is about family. Companies open earlier and earlier because they know that people are going to shop. If no one shopped, the companies wouldn't be open and the employees could spend the time with their families. I find it sad that companies will do anything to make a few extra dollars at the expense of their employees.

No! Not on Thursday! I have been shopping on Black Friday for many years, early riser, loves a good deal and the excitment. However.... retailers have crossed a line... turning Thanksgiving into Black Thursday. We are suppose to GIVE THANKS and spend time with the ones we love. I don't want to look back on my Thanksgiving holiday memories only to remember running from store to store trying to get a good deal instead of sitting at the dinner table w/ the ones I love enjoying what it truly means to be "thankful".

No I am protesting!!!! My boyfirend has to work (Target) at 7pm thanksgiving night...so he won't be able to enjoy his time with family and friends!!!!

A big NO! Too crazy for me!

NO WAY!

NO. I have never done Black Friday--there's NOTHING I need bad enough to put up with those crowds!

No.

Yes. I'm not sure which stores but need to get my Mom a tv so whoever has the best price for it. And I'll probably just keep going until I'm too tired and then I can sleep late the next day! Just haven't made out my 'route' yet. Still need to go grocery shopping:) Happy Holidays everyone.

NO-Thanksgiving Day YES-Black Friday

No. Once stores started opening on Thanksgiving Day, I started boycotting Black Friday altogether. I find enough good deals for gifts that I don't feel I'm missing out. I really think the retail employees should get the entire day off.

It's a date, Jenn! Missed you Sunday morning!

Thanks to everyone for your answers! Love the commentary! Keep 'em coming!

No

NO!

Maybe I would have 30 years ago when Black Friday started at 9:00 am on Friday. Back then it was fun and exciting with more focus on the upcoming holidays. Now it just seems to be a day of greed. JMHO, of course.
