POLITICO MAGAZINE: Cooper launches 'Break the Majority' to attack gerrymandering

Posted July 18

N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper discusses his effort to take on gerrymandering and GOP dominance.

Roy Cooper launches a high-dollar campaign aimed at wresting the stranglehold Republicans have on North Carolina government. It is an effort that other Democrats around the nation, looking to gain ground lost over the last few years, are closely watching. “Until I get some leverage in the General Assembly, I can’t get the things done in education, in economic development. I can’t do as much to stop this social conservative legislation that makes us embarrassed as a state, and doesn’t truly reflect who we are as North Carolinians,” Cooper told POLITICO’s Off Message podcast. “And it’s time for that to stop.” Listen to, and read, the full story in POLITICO magazine.
