RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman was taken to the hospital early Saturday morning after being shot in Raleigh, police said.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. at Glenwood Avenue and West North Street, according to the Raleigh Police Department. The woman's was identified as 37-year-old Keesha Nicholle Jackson, of Knightdale.

The severity of her injuries was not released.

A bartender at a nearby restaurant said they heard about six or seven shots and then saw people run.

On Calvin Road, blocks away from the shooting, Leah Perry realized her neighbor's car had been vandalized and a gun was at the end of her driveway.

"I called the police and they asked me to describe it and they said it was real," Perry said.

She said this incident is too close for comfort for those in the neighborhood.

"My thoughts are that things have just gotten way crazy in our country and in our state with guns," Perry said.

Officials with the Raleigh Police Department said no suspects have been identified.

Raleigh police said they were adding extra officers in the Glenwood South area this weekend.
