Fayetteville police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred Wednesday morning in the area of Dunn Road and Grove Street.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred Wednesday morning in the area of Dunn Road and Grove Street.

Authorities said that the victim was in the area of Eastern Boulevard and Person Street when she accepted a ride from a man. The man drove to Dunn Road, where he stopped the car and raped the woman.

The man is described as being white, in his 40s and having a muscular build. The victim told police that he had been smoking cigarettes.

Police said the man was driving a dark-colored, four-door sedan.

Authorities do not believe the incident is connected to a rape that occurred on July 10 in the area of Ramsey Street and Rosehill Road.
