Police: Woman assaulted, robbed at McDonald's in Sanford

A woman was injured Tuesday after two men assaulted her and robbed her at gunpoint at a McDonald's restaurant in Sanford.

SANFORD, N.C. — A woman was injured Tuesday after two men assaulted her and robbed her at gunpoint at a McDonald's restaurant in Sanford.

Around 12:45 p.m., officers with the Sanford Police Department responded to a robbery at a McDonald's at 2502 S. Horner Boulevard.

A 28-year-old woman told police that two men struck her in the head with a handgun and robbed her of an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was transported to Central Carolina Hospital with injuries to her head and face and later released.

Police have arrested 21-year-old Dante Malik Williams and 22-year-old Rashawn Ellison Ayers for their connection with the crime. Williams was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was placed in Lee County Jail under a $75,000 bond.

Ayers was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was also placed in the Lee County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
