Police: Wig-wearing bank robber fled on pink bike

Posted March 2, 2011

— Durham police said that a man wearing a long wig and makeup robbed a bank and rode away on a pink bicycle Wednesday morning.

Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said the man entered the Wachovia bank at 300 Foushee St. around 10:45 a.m. and handed a teller a note, saying that he had a gun and demanding money.

No one saw a gun, and no one was injured, Michael said.

The man changed clothes after he left the bank and was last seen pedaling away on a pink or light red bicycle, Michael said. He was described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin to medium build and light complexion.

Anyone with information about the case should call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers tipsters never have to give their names and are eligible for cash rewards for information that solves felony crimes.

This is the 2nd robbery at a Wachovia this week, that one next to North Duke Mall. The other one that got robbed they caught him when he dropped his wallet in the bank, and they locked the doors. He went back to get his wallet and the doors were locked. He sat there till the police came and he was arrested. From what I understand he was taking the city bus. There wasn't anything on the news about that one but in the Herald Sun Paper yesterday. Must be the gas prices....the 1st one was going to take the city bus, this one on a pink bike!

"Well, obviously this wasn't in Cary since I'm sure they don't allow pink bicycles there!"

I wish this was Cary...then another "life long" criminal would be off the streets and the taxpayers would be spared from supporting him for life.
