ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A man was charged Saturday after Rocky Mount police said he walked into a Walmart, smashed a gun case, took a rifle and hid in the men's restroom.

Police said they responded to a domestic disturbance call about 2:45 p.m at the store at 1511 Benvenue Road. They arrived to find 44-year-old Ricky Edward Frazier in the men's restroom at the back of the store.

Witnesses told officers that Frazier went into the sporting goods section, smashed the gun case, took the rifle into the restroom and refused to leave. Officers took him into custody without incident.

Frazier, of 1705 Shamrock Lane in Rocky Mount, was charged with larceny of a firearm, going to the armed terror of the public, damage to property and outstanding warrants for driving charges.

He was held in the Nash county jail under a $20,000 bond.

No injuries were reported.
