Police vehicle catches fire at Carolina Beach
First responders were called to Freeman Park at Carolina Beach on Sunday about a police vehicle on fire.
Posted — UpdatedCAROLINA BEACH, N.C. — First responders were called to Freeman Park at Carolina Beach on Sunday about a police vehicle on fire.
Carolina Beach Police Department spokesperson Scott Hettinger confirmed a Carolina Beach Police Department vehicle went up in flames on the north end of the Island, WECT reported.
Officers aren’t sure specifically what caused the fire but said no one was injured.
At 2 p.m., the Carolina Beach Police Department posted an update to Facebook:
"Heavy traffic has slowed passage onto Freeman Park," the post read. "Once emergency equipment and the vehicle are cleared from Freeman Park we do not expect any further delays."
