Fayetteville, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who stole more than 23 flat-screen televisions from a Fayetteville elementary school in the past 11 months.
The televisions, valued at $30,000 total, have been disappearing from Westarea Elementary School since September 2011, investigators said. The latest theft was reported Monday, when a 32-inch Bravia was discovered missing from a classroom.
Investigators said school security video shows a young black man, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, walking the halls and leaving with the televisions. The thefts happened between 10:30 p.m. and 5 a.m., when the school is closed.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 910-323-1500.
