GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Police have charged a Goldsboro man with animal cruelty after a pit bull puppy was thrown out of a second-story window.

Nine puppies were stolen on Dec. 2 from a home at 703 Franklin St., police said. When officers were trying to gain entry to a suspect's apartment recently, one of the puppies was tossed out a window, police said.

Jermel Shy’Kymn Jamison, 19, of 506 Courtyard Circle, also was charged with possession of a stolen dog and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The last charge stems from the discovery of packages of a substance believed to be marijuana inside his apartment, police said.
