GARNER, N.C. — A Garner Magnet High School student was arrested Friday after detonating a homemade explosive at the school, police said.

Andrew Garrett Eye, 18, of 1028 Bellewood Farms Road in Raleigh, was charged with possession of a weapon of mass death and destruction.

Police said Eye mixed chemicals in a two-liter bottle and placed it near a mobile classroom at Garner High, where it exploded at about 10:45 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and no school property was damaged, police said. Classes continued without interruption.

Investigators said they don't believe Eye intended to hurt anyone. He was being held in the Wake County jail Saturday under a $100,000 secured bond.
