— Police said Wednesday that they have determined a weekend shooting that injured a Fuquay-Varina High School graduate was an accident.

Officers found Adrian Kyree Evans, 18, in the parking lot of the Cook-Out restaurant, 1433 N. Main St. at about 2 a.m. Saturday. He had been shot in the lower back and was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh for treatment.

Investigators interviewed Evans and witnesses to the shooting, consulted with the Wake County District Attorney's Office and decided not to file charges in the case, Fuquay-Varina Police Chief Larry Smith said.

Evans was with a group of people, and one of them was carrying a shotgun that accidentally discharged, Smith said.

Evans played football and basketball at Fuquay-Varina High before graduating last year.

Also,it is NOT against the law to carry a shotgun in a vehicle and check your concealed weapons laws. You're not even close trianglerelic.

"Any loaded long-gun in a vehicle is a concealed weapon, and is illegal. CCW permits only allow handguns for those licensed to carry concealed."

You REALLY need to educate yourself on gun laws!! Not to mention what the word "conceal" means. I hope you were just kidding because this one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever seen!!

I want to nkow if anyone that commented here was actually at the scene of the shooting. If so that's the only comment you can take to heart. The rest are just conjecture and opinion. If you weren't there how can you say whether it was an accident or negligence or what? Most are just talking out of their derriere.

Guns don't go off on their own ,,its impossible for a gun to "accidentally go off" get it straight for once , someone accidentally pulled the trigger

Come on... it's an accident people. Just like when Dick Cheney accidentally shot Harry Whittington in the face with a shotgun. No charges were filed then and none will be filed now.

Kiki, how do you accidently load and then shoot a gun?

This was no accident, it was pure negligence.

Kids this age DO NOT have any business out at that time of morning. Nothing good takes place after midnight. Nothing is open, and there's no place to be. They should be at home in bed.

    White Devil

It Certainly in our business if there are teens running around parking lots with shotguns...

    Conspiracy....dont think so..

It makes since now since it was probably a minor with the shotgun, why there was not much detail.
