ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police are searching for two men they want to question about the death of a teen found shot in a wrecked car late Tuesday evening.

A Cadillac driven by Shakeem Devonte Avent, 18, crashed into a white BMW and then struck a brick wall at Sunset Avenue and Lee Street. Police said that Avent had been shot, but they are waiting for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

People called 911 about gunshots in the area at the time, police said, and investigators are treating the case as a homicide.

Police believe that Antonio Vantron Richardson, 20, and James Raimey Jr., 21, know information about the case. Richardson is also wanted on an unrelated, outstanding warrant for marijuana possession.

They might be using a burgundy Honda Accord.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Richardson or Raimey is asked to call Rocky Mount police at 252-972-1411 or Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111. Tips can also be e-mailed to Crime Stoppers at crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
