Police seek to identify Garner bank robber

— Police on Friday asked for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a Garner bank on Thursday.

A man entered a Wells Fargo branch at 1301 Fifth Ave. at about 2:40 p.m., handed a note demanding money to a teller and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The man was wearing jeans, a brown or green jacket, a light blue baseball cap, dark sunglasses and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Garner Police Department at 919-772-8810.

    People rob banks even in a good economy!

    Anyone else out their notice that since the economy has gotten so bad, people loosing their jobs unable to pay their bills, unemployment benefits running out, etc..... The more bank robberys their have been. I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying there are alot of people out there just at the end of their ropes it seems and these things are happening and it's everywhere.

    I live by a credit union that has a buzzer on the door. Sign posted to remove sunglasses and hat or you don't gain access to the tellers.

    Hmph. Innovative. Smart. I like it! That should be a standard practice for all banks.

    Would it do any good ? We put up signs saying refrain from cell phone use but everyone ignores them.

    You notice how everybody that robs a bank basically wears shades and a cap?? Why don't the banks put up a notice sayin " Please remove ballcaps and/ or sunglasses before entering for our security and yours". Would discern many a would be robber.
