Police seek suspect in Spring Lake shooting

— Police said Wednesday that they are looking for a 26-year-old man accused of shooting a man in an open field near Parker Street in Spring Lake Sunday.

Officers traced a 911 call made by the victim, Efrem Cordez Lawrence, to the field, where they found him with a gunshot wound to his lower extremities.

Lawrence was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for surgery and was listed in critical condition Wednesday. Police were able to interview him and he identified the shooter as Marrvette King, of 100 Rose St., Apt 4.

King is charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He is not in custody, police said.
