Police seek suspect in bank robbery near NC State

Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police on Monday released two surveillance photos from a robbery that happened mid-morning Monday at a bank near the campus of North Carolina State University.
Officers were dispatched to the Wells Fargo bank branch at 2600 Hillsborough St. shortly before 10:30 a.m. Police said a man passed a note demanding money to a teller and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
There were no reports of injuries.
Investigators said the man appeared to be in his 40s and stood about 5 feet 9 inches tall. In the surveillance photos, he is wearing a New York Giants cap and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The North Carolina Bankers Association offers rewards up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone involved in a bank robbery. Tips can be submitted confidentially through its website or by calling an FBI tip line at 800-209-2293.
According to the Bankers Association, North Carolina saw a 27.2 percent decrease in bank robberies reported to the FBI since December 2013 – a continued decrease of approximately 43 percent over the past five years.
