Police seek driver after fatal Fayetteville wreck

Police were investigating a wreck in Fayetteville that killed a 35-year-old motorcyclist Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police were investigating a wreck in Fayetteville that killed a 35-year-old motorcyclist Saturday.

The male driver of a 2005 Ford fled the scene, police said. They are searching for him. It wasn't clear whether he would be charged.

Authorities said Carson Morris, of the 1100 block of Blankshire Road, was traveling north on 71st School Road on a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle when the wreck occurred. The driver of the Ford, police said, was traveling south on 71st School Road and attempted to make a left turn on to Old Bunce Road in front of Morris.

Morris was pronounced dead when officers arrived at the scene shortly after 9 p.m.

He was a staff sergeant assigned to the 7th Transportation Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade at Fort Bragg as a wheeled vehicle mechanic.
