Police searching for Chapel Hill bank robber

Chapel Hill police are searching for a man who robbed SunTrust Bank inside Harris Teeter, at 1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Saturday afternoon.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police are searching for a man who robbed SunTrust Bank inside Harris Teeter, at 1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Saturday afternoon.

The man entered the bank around 3:45 p.m. and gave the teller a note demanding money. He then fled in a dark vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The man is white, in his early 20s and was wearing a surgical face mask, white T-shirt, yellow traffic vest and red bandanna.

Anyone with information is asked to call Chapel Hill police at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515. Tips can also be reported on Crime Stoppers' website.

Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and callers may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
