Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police investigating the May 19 shooting death of a pizza parlor owner searched the cell phones of the suspect and his wife for clues to how they might be connected to the victim, according to a search warrant returned on Wednesday.
William Damieon Edwards, 43, of 7308 Great Laurel Drive, is being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge for the May 19 shooting death of Jay Waheed Ammeri, at the NY Style Pizza restaurant at 7440 Louisburg Road.
According to the search warrant, Edwards' wife, Tarisa Edwards, worked at Nail USA salon in the same shopping center as Ammeri's pizza shop.
Police asked to search the cell phones of both Tarisa and William Edwards to "determine a connection between the suspect and the victim," the warrant says. Raleigh police have said that the two men knew each other but have not elaborated further on their relationship or a motive for the shooting.
