— Police used a helicopter to search Tuesday afternoon for three men in connection with an armed robbery in Morrisville.

Around noon, three men attempted to rob someone in the parking lot of the Legends of Preston apartment complex, at 1000 Stony Court in Morrisville, police spokeswoman Stacie Galloway said. The victim fled the scene unharmed.

The three men drove away in a white Mitsubishi Mirage.

Police later spotted a car matching that description in the Slater Road area, where a work crew reported seeing two or three men fitting the descriptions of the robbers run into the woods off Slater Road near Interstate 540, Galloway said.

At least one weapon was recovered near the scene of the search. Police said they believed it was used in the robbery and then discarded from the getaway car.

The robbers are considered to be armed and dangerous, and the case is under investigation.

Law enforcement agents from Morrisville, Cary, Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the Wake County Sheriff's Office and the state Highway Patrol assisted in the search, providing K-9 units and a helicopter.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Morrisville Police Department at 919-463-1600.

I saw the car. I was driving to work on 54 by Airport road and the Mirage went into on coming traffic to go around our stopped cars and he almost hit us. The cop was following closely behind him. It was terrifying. I can't believe that the cops still lost them.

They may have ran to Durham but came from Wake Co., Raleigh. NO matter what someone on these boards with any story, try to find a why to include in Durham in any wrong in the Triangle. I'm sure you are not of a certain race, and I bet you are only repeating what the circle of people say amongst themselves. Are you oblivious to Raleigh, Wake Co. or does the shooting in Wake Co., they call Apex, not included in those crimes. If the city was of another name, and not Durham as well, would you overlook the crime, as you do with Cary, Morrisville, Apex, Raleigh & Knightdale?

Start looking in Durham, because 9 times out of 10 that's where they are from. The criminals in Durham are branching out for a more diverse work experience. LOL.
