Police search for suspect in Fayetteville shooting death

— Police were searching Tuesday for a Fayetteville man in the shooting death of a man outside a Skibo Road hotel.

Officers responding to the Inn Keeper Hotel, at 1720 Skibo Road, about 10:45 p.m. Monday found Benny Lamar Fields unconscious in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to the chest and back.

Fields, 31, of Fayetteville, died early Tuesday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Lonnie Edward Johnson Jr. on a charge of first-degree murder in the case.

Johnson, 25, who has a last known address of 315 Bighorn Drive, wasn't in custody Tuesday afternoon.

    This guy was a TALENTED barber! I watched him cut 2 people hair @ one time using one hand per person in a hair cutting contest @ MMC Barber college. It's bad when u have a career in ur hands & in a quick second it's taken away from you. Sad situation for the victim & suspect.....807-0808
