Police search for Mustang linked to Durham homicide

Police on Monday identified a Durham man killed in a weekend shooting and said they were searching for a car that was in the area at the time.

DURHAM, N.C. — Police on Monday identified a Durham man killed in a weekend shooting and said they were searching for a car that was in the area at the time.

Officers were dispatched shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday to a report of shots fired in the 1300 block of Scout Drive, off South Roxboro Street. When they arrived, they found Jaronte Deshon Davis, 19, of Durham, lying in the street with a gunshot wound, police said.

Davis was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he died.

A gold Ford Mustang with silver rims and a black convertible top was seen leaving the scene, police said.
