— Police were investigating a Friday morning robbery at a Durham bank.

A man wearing a fake beard entered the BB&T branch at 2726 Croasdaile Drive at about 10:30 a.m. and demanded money, police said. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber was described as white, in his 20s, 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a white ball cap, a dark hooded sweatshirt with a red or burgundy emblem – possibly a Kobe Bryant designer logo – on the chest and white coverings over his hands.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Durham police at 919-560-4582, Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200, the FBI at 919-380-4500 or 704-672-6100 or the North Carolina Bankers Association hotline at 800-209-2293. The Bankers Association is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

Did he leave the bank on foot or get in a vehicle?

  • evniamdawalrus Sep 16, 2011

meant to say walking by here.

  • evniamdawalrus Sep 16, 2011

haha I was walking my bike here when he walked out. I definitely wasn't going to put my cross country running skills into effect and play hero. Sad though, the teller is a nice young lady.

"WOW! They definitely didn't waste anytime throwing this guys picture out there. Usually they wait a day or two to report a robbery, but the same day and several hours later??

They are trying to keep ahead of the rush. Unemployment up at 10.4%, bank robberies up 35%.
