RALEIGH, N.C. — A man was charged Monday following an incident in the parking lot of Crabtree Valley Mall during which at least one shot was fired, according to mall spokesman Brian Asbill.

Damien Dayquann Lyons, 24, of 6733 Magnolia Court in Raleigh, was charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling or vehicle, going armed to the terror of the people and injury to personal property.

Authorities did not release a motive behind the shooting, but said no injuries were reported.

A witness who did not want to be identified said the incident started at about 5 p.m. in front of the Best Buy store and shoppers came running toward the Diamonds Direct store on the opposite side of the parking lot.

Asbill said a portion of the parking lot near the Barnes and Noble and Best Buy stores was roped off while Raleigh police investigated, but the mall remained open.
