Posted January 15, 2015

Azam Khan

— A man suspected of robbing a Cary bank on Wednesday didn't get far.

Officers arrested Azam Khan in the parking lot of a First Citizens Bank branch at 10010 Green Level Church Road about three minutes after bank employees triggered an alarm, police said.

A man went into the bank shortly before 3 p.m., displayed a weapon and demanded money, which was recovered during the arrest, police said.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.

Khan, 27, of Cary, was charged with common law robbery and was being held in the Wake County jail.

The Bank is 0.6 Miles away from the Cary Police Department's 2nd District Office. 1 minute drive. 11 minute Walk.

An easy catch with the officer sitting in the banks shopping center. Good job officer. Glad you got your man.

Today's Lesson -- Don't rob a bank when there is an officer sitting in a patrol car in the bank's shopping center within easy visual distance of the bank.

Because it was probably a Nerf gun.

If the weapon was a NERF gun, is it still considered armed robbery:)
