Police: Masked man with machete robs Raleigh convenience store

A masked man with a machete robbed the Han-Dee Hugo's convenience store on South New Hope Road around 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to Raleigh police.

Derek McPherson, 32, was arrested after a short foot chase through the woods behind the store and was charged with the robbery, police said.

No one was injured.

I wonder if this machete would have passed the two feature assault weapons test? I bet it didn't have a collapsible stock or a barrel shroud ... and there's a strong chance it didn't have a flash suppressor either. Clearly the solution is to ban all machetes.

Better put a ban on the machete.

We need more machete regulations and laws.

Look back at the slaughters in Rwanda back in the 70`s...1000s killed by machetes, clubs and knives in churches, schools and hospitals. Take away or have limited gun availability or make them highly expensive and people will find a substitute to bring harm or terrorize. It may have been 40 yrs ago but could just as easy happen today. People with weapons of any kind have the upper hand against those innocent victims that don't. Unfortunately there are people out there that will use any means they can to kill, create a crime, or promote violence.. Glad this person escaped unharmed in the robbery and I hope they catch the guy.

Maybe we need to have background checks and permits for garden tools?
