Police: Man tried to rob bank at Cross Creek Mall

Police were searching Tuesday for a man who tried to rob a bank at Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police were searching Tuesday for a man who tried to rob a bank at Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville.

A man walked into the Bank of America branch at the mall at about 2 p.m. and handed a note to a teller that demanded money and indicated he was armed, police said. But the man fled the bank on foot without obtaining any money.

The man was described as black, between 6 feet 1 inch and 6 feet 4 inches tall and 250 to 300 pounds. He was wearing a gray shirt, tan pants, a black jacket and a green, military-style knit cap.

Anyone who can identify the man or who has information about the attempted robbery is asked to call Fayetteville police at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
