Police: Man rammed Fayetteville officer's car
A Fayetteville police officer was injured Friday morning when a suspect in a domestic violence case slammed into his patrol car, police said.

Officer Michael Boone was investigating a report of a domestic dispute in the College Lakes subdivision at about 10:30 a.m. and spotted the suspect in the case driving a black Ford Explorer, police said.
Boone was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Shoreline Drive and Saddle Ridge Road and waited for the Explorer to pass when the driver veered suddenly and rammed the side of his patrol car, police said. The force of the collision sent the patrol car into an adjacent yard.
The Explorer driver fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later.
Malcolm Leon Savage, 43, of 450 Saddle Ridge Road, was charged with assault on a female, careless and reckless driving and failure to reduce speed in the case.
Boone was pinned in his patrol car, and members of the Fayetteville Fire Department had to cut the roof of the car off to free him. He suffered a broken collarbone and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Savage also was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
