Police Make Arrest in Smithfield Bank Robbery

— Police have arrested a man in connection with a bank robbery near the Smithfield Outlets.

It happened at the Heritage Bank at 1360 N Brightleaf Blvd at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said Frederick Alando Smith, 39, gave a teller a note demanding money. Once he got the cash, he fled the scene on foot.

Smith was arrested Friday and charged with felony common law robbery. Smith was being held in the Johnston County jail on $100,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make his first  court appearance Monday morning.
