Police: Louisburg man punched cashier after argument at Wake Forest Home Depot

A 31-year-old Louisburg man is facing charges after Wake Forest police say he punched a cashier Tuesday evening at a Home Depot on Capital Boulevard.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A 31-year-old Louisburg man is facing charges after Wake Forest police say he punched a cashier Tuesday evening at a Home Depot on Capital Boulevard.

Charles Sidney Mayo, of 1514 East River Road, is charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

According to police, Mayo got into an argument with the cashier and then assaulted him shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday night. After the assault, which caused the cashier to fall to the floor, police say Mayo fled the store.

The cashier was taken to WakeMed, where he is in critical but stable condition.

Mayo was in the Franklin County jail Friday afternoon under a $50,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
