Police seek person of interest in Spring Lake shooting death

Spring Lake police are trying to identify a man seen in Walmart security video on Feb. 14, 2015, shortly before a man who left the store with him was found shot to death.

— Police said Monday they are trying to identify a person of interest in the weekend shooting death of a Spring Lake man.

Horace Rufus Epps, 54, of Goodyear Drive, was found in the roadway in the 1300 block of Gary Street at about 12:15 a.m. Sunday. He died in the emergency room of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Police said Epps was seen leaving a Walmart in Spring Lake with a man about 30 minutes before he was found shot. Security video from the store showed Epps with the man.

Anyone with information about the shooting or who can identify the man seen in the security video is asked to call Spring Lake police at 910-436-0350 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

    Find the person who killed this man, and once found guilty, sentence the person to death. Do not allow the person to have 25 years of appeals and phony injunctions. Put the person to death, no more than 6 months, from the guilty verdict.
