Police said they were investigating an early Wednesday shooting in southeast Raleigh that left one man dead.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police said they were investigating an early Wednesday shooting in southeast Raleigh that left one man dead.

Someone drove Demeitrus Lee Austin, 23, to WakeMed for treatment of a gunshot wound, and he died at the hospital, police said.

The shooting was never reported to police, but investigators were able to locate the crime scene in the 1200 block of Mangum Street.

Police are treating the case as a homicide, but no other details were available.
