Police investigate shooting in east Raleigh

— A man was shot late Wednesday at an apartment on Calumet Drive, off New Bern Avenue in east Raleigh, authorities said. 

Details about the shooting at 3104-D Calumet Drive weren't immediately available, but Raleigh police said the man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his midsection following the shooting, which happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Authorities did not release the man's name or say whether they had any suspects.

    area is right across from wake med, from the sunnybrook side... Very bad area with blood gang members and drugs.
