— One man died, and his alleged shooter and a Raleigh police officer were injured Friday in a pair of shootings along Millbrook Road in Raleigh.

Police were called first to Carquest Auto Parts at 2635 E. Millbrook Road at about 2 p.m. They found a man in the parking lot, slumped behind the wheel of a white truck. Police later confirmed that man died, but they did not release his identity.

Just before 8:30 p.m., about five miles to the west, police cornered a man they said was responsible for the earlier shooting.

For about an hour, residents and shopkeepers near the intersection of Creedmoor and Millbrook roads were asked to stay inside and lock their doors while police pursued him. One resident told WRAL News he heard a single shot, and saw the build up of force as armed officers converged on the scene.

As they attempted to bring the man into custody, about a half-dozen shots rang out, the witness said.

Both the shooting suspect and a police officer were shot and taken to WakeMed. The officer's injury was not life-threatening, a police spokesman said. The suspect's condition was not available.

Police did not say how they connected the shooting at the Carquest to the suspect, who he is or what might have prompted the violence.

...and people keep asking me WHY I carry a gun now. Twice since I started carrying I've had to let someone know I was carrying. The 2nd time it was in a McD's restroom, three 20 somethings told me to leave.

In the other, it was some half drunk guy who told me he was going to his car FOR a gun. I told him to stand down, and I called 911, but he took off, with no lights on, so I didn't get his plate #. I'm betting this turns out to be that kind of thing too.

    piene2,
no, that's not how we are 'supposed' t do it. AND, I'll guarantee you this was NOT someone legally carrying anyway. Go look up the statistics on crimes like this, legal carriers / owners vs illegal carriers / owners and see who does all the parking lot, drive by stuff. A study in 2010 showed 1% of Concealed Carry people committed a murder. So that means whomever fired this shot is most likely NOT your 'six gun packing American'.

Go look up the data yourself, it's out there.

Unfortunately, if the CSI unit is on the scene then there is a fatality.

was getting ready to go there at the end of my errand run and lo & behold place was crawling w/ LEOs. Crime scene tape out to the road, at least 8 cars plus CSI cars......hope the victim is ok.

Needless to say I'll get my wipers another day.
