Police investigate Sanford bank robbery

Police say they are investigating after two men robbed the Capital Bank at 2800 Williams Street in Sanford on Friday morning.

SANFORD, N.C. — Police say they are investigating after two men robbed the Capital Bank at 2800 Williams Street in Sanford on Friday morning.

One of the robbers was armed with a long barreled rifle. He was described as a white man, 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing black pants and a gray hoodie. The robber covered his face with some type of mask and wore glasses, police said.

The second robber was described as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt, light colored pants and a black ski mask.

The robbers left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

There were no injuries.

The investigation was ongoing Saturday.
