Police: Goldsboro man used recycling bin to steal copper

A Goldsboro man used a recycling bin to steal about $75 worth of copper and a gas valve from a house Thursday morning, according to police.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro man used a recycling bin to steal about $75 worth of copper and a gas valve from a house Thursday morning, according to police.

Officers arrested Darrell Keith Applewhite, 44, of 807 Second St., after someone called 911 and reported a man leaving a vacant house, pulling a recycling bin at about 7:45 a.m. Officers determined the property was taken from 1000 Edgerton St.

Applewhite was charged with larceny, possession of stolen property and damage to real property. He was being held in the Wayne County jail under a $2,500 secured bond.
