Police: Goldsboro man pointed gun at clerk, demanded cigarettes

Police arrested a Goldsboro man Saturday in connection with an armed robbery at a Kangaroo Express on Feb. 23.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Police arrested a Goldsboro man Saturday in connection with an armed robbery at a Kangaroo Express on Feb. 23.

Matthew Hunter Carr, of 304-B N. Jefferson Ave., was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held in the Wayne County jail under a $200,000 secured bond, pending his first court appearance.

Police say the 27-year-old walked into the Kangaroo Express, at 1601 E. Ash St., pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded cigarettes. He was identified through surveillance footage, police said.
