SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — Police have found the body of a teenager wanted in the stabbing death of his grandmother.

Police say the murder happened just before 6 a.m. Tuesday inside her home off of Dixie Highway in Springfield Township.

Police say they have found 15-year-old Steven Wilkerson's body in the Village of Holly on the railroad tracks. They say it is obvious he was hit by a passing train.

We are looking into more information on the suspect. Here's what we know so far of what actually happened Tuesday morning.

Around 5:45 a.m., a 911 call came in to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office with reports that a woman was stabbed to death.

The caller indicated that his son had left a note saying he was going to kill his grandmother.

Police say the grandmother was stabbed several times with a large kitchen knife.

Now, of course, the big question is why someone would do such an act?

Neighbors describe the victim as a caring and kind woman.

"I can't imagine how someone could stick a knife in their grandmother. Or anyone else for that matter. It's just something that is unacceptable, unbelievable," said Richard Blain, the victim's neighbor.
