Police: Fayetteville woman tried to smother, drown 2-year-old nephew

Authorities said that Regina Durr, 24, was caring for her nephew at a relative's home in the 800 block of Zadock Drive Saturday and attempted to drown and smother the child.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman was charged with attempted murder Saturday after police found her 2-year-old nephew unconscious.

Authorities said that Regina Durr, 24, was caring for her nephew at a relative’s home in the 800 block of Zadock Drive Saturday and attempted to drown and smother him.

The boy was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and has since been released in good condition.

Durr was charged with attempted first-degree murder and felony child abuse. She was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under $500,000 secured bond.
