FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man is facing charges after a crash on a collapsed road.

Fayetteville police said officers responded to a crash along a stretch of collapsed road on Bingham Drive near the intersection of Tiree Drive at about 4:10 p.m.

Authorities said Darrell Musselwhite, 68, drove his 2015 Nissan Rogue around barriers blocking the roadway at the intersection of Bingham Drive and Bunce Road and crashed into the roadway which had collapsed as a result of flooding from Hurricane Matthew.

Musselwhite was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for evaluation. He was charged with driving around a barricade into a safety zone.
