Police: Fayetteville man arrested in stabbing of girlfriend

— A Fayetteville man was arrested Friday in connection to an April 1 stabbing in which his girlfriend was injured.

Jonathan Mitchel Wright, 35, of the 2600 block of Mellwood Drive, was charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Authorities said that Wright was involved in a fight with his girlfriend, Michelle Lee Taylor, at the Red Roof Inn at 3136 Bordeaux Park Drive when he stabbed her.

Taylor, 31, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with several stab wounds to her shoulders and chest, one of which resulted in a collapsed lung, police said.

Wright was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under $250,000 bond.

Police said a Crime Stoppers tip led to his arrest.
