— A 42-year-old man kidnapped his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint from a nightclub Sunday night, Rocky Mount police said.

Police said that Gerald Lee Outlaw pulled a gun on Felicia Barkley, 35, inside Club Seven, 691 S. Wesleyan Blvd. She complied with Outlaw's orders to go outside and get into his truck.

Outlaw then assaulted Barkley inside the vehicle, police said. He drove to her residence in Tarboro, pushed her out of the truck and drove away.

Barkley called 911, and Tarboro police arrested Outlaw a short time later, police said.

Tarboro police charged him with carrying a concealed weapon, driving while impaired and driving with an open container of alcohol. Rocky Mount police charged him with kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault by pointing a gun, damage to personal property and communicating threats.

Outlaw was being held in the Nash County Jail Monday under a $50,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Tuesday.

Outlaw has 1993 convictions for carrying a concealed weapon, drug possession and driving with a revoked license, according to state Department of Correction records.

The clubs in Lumberton and Fayetteville they make you empty pockets, and they use their hands and wands!

If the court allows this man to walk out of jail back into society and this woman is murdered, I hope the family sue the court (if possible). He is a threat not only to her but her entire family.

Check out the demographic data on this lovely city:
    http://www.idcide.com/citydata/nc/rocky-mount.htm
Crime rate is nearly twice the state average, median household income is only $32K, and: "There were 21,435 households out of which 32.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.3% were married couples living together, 20.9% had a female householder with no husband present." Can't wait to visit...

Maybe so much keeps happening in Rocky Mount because they are too leniant. He gets charged with kidnapping (felony #1) and AWDWISI (felony #2) and then a total of 6 more misdemeanors between Tarboro and Rocky Mount and only gets a $50,000 bond. That's crazy. Have seen where armed robbery suspects in Rocky Mount got less than $10,000 bond. It's absurd they are not setting bonds higher for these serious crimes in Nash county.

Good for her for reporting. In the not too far distant past, some women thought if it was someone they had dated they would be called into question themselves if they reported. Is it time for a three strikes law in NC? I'm really tired of repeat offenders in and out, committing more crimes.

As I state so often, Rocky Mount was my hometown. I live in the suburbs of Nashville between Rocky Mount, Nashville, and Wilson. Thank God I have a Nashville address. I am so aggravated with recent reports that crime is down in Rocky Mount and up in Nash County. These type of statistics are a joke. They factor in white collar crimes, rapes, murders, everything except the truth. I am going to do some research on the true types of crime that has gone on Rocky Mount versus Nash County and report those stats myself. Somehow it seems that someone is comparing apples to oranges here. The county includes about half of Rocky Mount, all of Bailey, Nasville, Spring Hope, Middlessex, Red Oak, etc... Crime DOWN in Rocky Mount? Somehow I doubt it.

what kind of security does this club have in place? i thought the clubs usually made you empty pockets and went over you with one of those wands that pick up things made of metal.
