Durham, N.C. — A 13-year-girl who was shot Thursday evening has died, Durham police said Monday.
The shooting happened inside a home in the 1900 block of Faucette Avenue.
The girl, identified as Emily Lopez, was taken to Duke University Hospital with critical injuries.
Investigators on Friday charged a 15-year-old boy in connection with the crime. The boy, a relative of the victim, was served with a juvenile petition with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
He was being held in a Wake County juvenile facility, and police said Monday that the charges he face could be upgraded.
Police haven't said how the two are related. The shooting remains under investigation.

That's a false equivalency. Cars certainly serve a purpose other than hurting/injuring/killing someone. Guns are tool used specifically for that reason.
