Police: Drunken mom walked into traffic with children

Posted May 18, 2011

— A Raleigh woman remained in jail Wednesday, two days after police said she was drunk and wandered into rush-hour traffic with two children.

Kristin Smith Almalikie, 36, of 5535 Hamstead Crossing, was charged with misdemeanor child abuse, public intoxication, resisting arrest and injury to property. She was being held under a $2,000 bond.

Police said Almalikie tried to cross five lanes of traffic on Duraleigh Road Monday afternoon with a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old. She became combative when officers tried to stop her and damaged a patrol car, police said.

The Great Raleigh!!! Crime and irresponsibility are everywhere, meaning the Triangle, not just one corner of that triangle. No Durham bashing and Raleigh praising here!!

    I'll take the kids.

yes, thank goodness her kids are okay. she should be charged with TWO counts of child endangerment, seeing that she had two kids with her. Where's the dad? or someone who is more responsible to take care of the kids? let them take the kids, and let mom live life however she wants to... her life... not around the kids that she "supposedly" loves, but didn't really show it that day!

"Pitifut! She should be ashamed with herself."

    "She is an alcoholic"

    -How do you know?

  • wildcat May 18, 2011

Pitifut! She should be ashamed with herself. The social services should remove the underaged children from her care for a long while until she get help with her drinking problem. She is an alcoholic and seriously needs help. Its a wonder she did not kill herself and the children.
