RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are searching for a vehicle that struck a police cruiser with an officer inside it outside a nightclub early Saturday.

Police said that an officer was parked outside Club Dolce on North West Street around 3:15 a.m. when the driver of a Dodge Charger backed up, hit the cruiser and sped away. The officer was not injured.

Police said they believe the driver intentionally hit the cruiser and wanted to avoid police, but they're not sure of the motive.

The Dodge Charger is silver and has Virginia license plates.
