Durham, N.C. — Durham police have charged an 18-year-old with the murder of a teenager over the weekend.
Deamonte Tavaris Brooks, of Stone Lick Drive, was charged with murder Wednesday in the Nov. 8 shooting death of Nathan Elmore.
Elmore, 18, was one of four men shot during a party late Saturday at 906 Glendale Ave.
Elmore and another teen, Shelton Henderson Jr., 19, died from their injuries. Henderson is the younger half-brother of Demario James Atwater, a murder suspect in the slaying of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill senior Eve Carson.
Two other men, Christopher Hunter, 16, and James Downey, 21, were treated at Duke University Hospital late Saturday for non-life-threatening injuries.
Brooks was charged Sunday with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury for the injuries suffered by Downey and Hunter.
Dylan Shaquan Turner, 17, was charged with possession of a firearm by a minor.
No charges have been filed in the death of Henderson and the investigation is on-going, police said.
