FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives have arrested a suspect who they believe is connected to the Wednesday murder of Joseph Carl Wallace.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department arrested 48-year-old Ambrose Dumone Murray, of the 1700 block of Powatan Street, around 7 p.m. on Saturday on charges of first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and larceny of a motor vehicle. Murray is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center with no bond.

According to police, 72-year-old Wallace was found dead inside of Quality Automotive at 1110 Pamalee Drive on Wednesday following the theft of two cars and three independent dealer plates. Upon arriving at the Fayetteville car dealership, officers found Wallace lying in a pool of blood. The cause of his death has not yet been released.

Murray was a former employee of Wallace, officials say.

Officers located one of the stolen cars, a 2008 Black BMW 328i, when they arrested Murray. They are still searching for the other missing items.

Murray was scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-237-9391 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
