16-year-old girl killed in Wake County car wreck, troopers say

Police responded to a serious one-car wreck on Kennebec Road in Willow Springs Friday evening. At least one person died in the crash.

Police responded to a serious single-car wreck near on Kennebec Road in Willow Spring around 8 p.m. Friday evening.
WILLOW SPRINGS, N.C. — A teenage girl died Friday night in a Wake County car crash when the vehicle she was riding in skidded off the road and slammed into a tree, officials said.

Macie Tucker, 16, of Fuquay-Varina, was riding the the passenger seat of a 2004 Pontiac that was traveling north on Kennebec Road, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The car skidded off the road to the right before hitting a tree.

Tucker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, 17-year-old Camrelle Kaye Cummings, of Angier, was charged with reckless driving and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, troopers said.

Cummings and another 15-year-old girl were taken to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.
