RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina State University Police Department will hold its third annual “Polar Plunge” to raise money for N.C. Special Olympics.

Police officers and other plungers who have collected at least $50 in donations will jump into Lake Raleigh on N.C. State’s Centennial Campus at 11 a.m. Feb. 2.

Plungers will receive a T-shirt for participating, and awards will be distributed in a variety of categories, such as best costume, oldest plunger and youngest plunger. After taking the plunge, participants will warm up in a tent stocked with hot food donated by local businesses.
